Research and Campaigning for
CAB is not just an advice
agency. We collect evidence from our clients to highlight recurring problems
and campaign for change. See
In Hillingdon a wide range of pressing social policy issues are brought to our
attention by local people who come to us for assistance. In the course of a year
we send powerful in-depth Bureau Evidence Forms to Citizens Advice for input
into national campaigning as a result of our casework for clients.
Our evidence on the problems facing people in Hillingdon
has been included in a number of Citizens Advice Evidence Reports to MPs and
These enable the CAB service to campaign both locally and
nationally for improvements in services and in the law by:
influencing the Government
when they are planning new laws
highlighting issues to MPs,
councillors and other policy makers
talking to local councils
about their services
discussing problems with
companies to persuade them to improve their services
running local campaigns such
as calling for more NHS dentists, better temporary housing or banking
Hillingdon Research & Campaigns uses on-line surveys to collect and analyse
information on current social issues.
High Cost Credit
We’re researching the impact that high cost credit – doorstep loans, rent to own
credit, credit cards, motor finance - can have on people’s lives. We want to
learn more about the knock-on effects that using these types of credit can have
for local residents.
By clicking on the link below, you will be contributing to our research.
The survey will take between 10 and 20 minutes to complete, depending on how
many types of credit you have used.
High Cost Credit Survey
Successful campaigns have
resulted in the Government increasing the
support available for childcare costs from 70 per cent to 85 per cent for
Universal Credit and new guidance for local authorities on collecting council
Our Bureau Evidence Forms
have also given the people of Hillingdon a voice in the Equality and Human
Rights Commission Enquiry and in the Domestic Violence and Cost of Living Home
Affairs Select Committees.
By solving problems in
this way, the CAB service helps many more people in addition to those who come
for advice and assistance on an individual basis.
